Chapter 4

Jared’s POV

“Are you sure you want to do this?”, tanong ni Krista.

“Yeah, I’m sure.”, sagot ko rito.

“You do realize na kapag nalaman ng mga tao kung sino ka, someone would eventually rat you out right?”

I chuckled.

“I know Krista.”, nakangiting sagot ko sa kanya.

Krista might sometimes, well, most of the time, a bitch, but she’s a really great friend. She was the only one who stuck up with me. At laking pasasalamat ko sa kanya dahil dun.

“So you really like him?”, tanong nito.

“Yes.”

“You know he’s practically a whore and you deserve someone much better right?”

“I don’t think that Kris. I know na he’s probably had sex with the whole city but he had his reasons.”

“Pero mali pa rin ang ginagawa niya.”

“He’s hurt. It was the only way he knew how to cope up. And when he saw that it was the only way out, he took it.”

She sighed.

“Well, let’s just hope that you’re not one of his “Fuck and Run” cases.”

I smiled. “No, I am worth so much more than that. I’m going to make him believe na hindi lahat ng lalaki, pare-pareho.”

“Right, well, on a whole unrelated topic, you look awesome. Much better than what you looked like. Sana wag mo nang isuot yung mga nakakahiya mong mga damit.”

Smiling, I hugged her.

“Thanks Krista, for everything.”

“Hey, don’t get all dramatic on me. Go and get your man!”, sabi nito.

I chuckled but let her go.

“I’ll see him tomorrow. I’ll call you and tell you how it went.”

“Dapat lang.”

I took one more look at the mirror.

My hair is fixed back up in a slightly messy but spiked up style. I was wearing a purple ¾ sleeved shirt. A black pair of slimfit jeans, and a pair of sneakers.

This was how I dressed before. And this is how I’m going to dress from now on. I promise, I’ll do whatever it takes to make Mark Rindel fall for me. Even if it means exposing myself to the public.

RINDEL’S POV

“So are you going to tell me?”, tanong ni Rhoi.

I looked at him. Alam kong nag-aalala lang ito para sa akin. But Rhoi can be violent if he’s angry.

“He cheated on me.”

“I already got that part.”

“He cheated on me multiple times. I saw him with four different guys before and one time was in our house. Pero pinatawad ko siya. Kasi sabi niya magbabago siya. And I believed him. Kasi mahal ko siya.”

At this point, my tears were already making their way down my cheeks. Ramdam ko pa rin ang sakit noong nahuli ko si Luke sa bahay kasama ang ibang lalake. It was unexpected for me to come home but I wasn’t feeling well kaya nagpasya akong umuwi nalang at magpahinga. Ang buong akala ko ay nasa trabaho ito. But when I opened the bedroom, nakita ko itong nasa akto.

Pakiramdam ko noon, parang binuhusan ng malamig na tubig. It hurt. I ran out of the house and drove away. Hindi ko alam kung saan ako pupunta noon. So after cooling off, I decided to go home. I decided that I would break up with him. Pero pagdating ko ay nawala lahat ng determinasyon ko. He hugged me and told me how sorry he was. I tried to push him away and tell him it was over, but my love was stronger.

But after I saw him do it again, I realized na hindi na siya magbabago. You can’t teach old dogs new tricks. He’ll do it over and over again dahil alam niyang hindi ko siya kayang iwan. But I finally did it and it felt fucking good!

Sinabi ko ang lahat ng ito kay Rhoi.

“I’m going to kill him!”, sabi nito saka tumayo at hinanap ang phone.

“Rhoi, you won’t do anything.”

“He fucking hurt you! I just can’t stand by and do nothing!”

“That’s exactly why I didn’t want to tell you!”, pasigaw kong sabi rito. “You’re reckless and you’re violent when you’re angry. You might just end up killing him and it will eat me up inside if you get convicted because of me!”

Tiningnan ako nito. He’s trying to calm himself down.

“Look. I just can’t stand here and do nothing. I won’t let anyone hurt you or anyone else for that matter Mark.”

“Then just be my brother. Please. You’re already doing so much by being my brother. You’re the only family I got left. Hindi ko alam kung anong gagawin ko pag nakulong ka.”

I said this dahil alam kong kayang-kaya nitong patumbahin si Luke. My cousin, or should I say, our family has connections. But since I came out, si Rhoi lang ang hindi nagbago ang tingin sa akin. He supported me. He was there when my parents disowned me. Hell, he was there when my entire family disowned me. Saying that I was an utter embarrassment.

The look on Rhoi’s face softened.

“I’m sorry.”, sabi nito saka ako niyakap.

I just stayed quiet.

“Look, stay here tonight, okay?”

“If I said no, would you have let me go?”

“Nope. I won’t let you drive in this condition.”

He let go and I smiled. He’s really a great cousin. Sometimes, I think of him as an older brother. 

He never let anyone hurt our family. He’s very protective. Kaya naman malaki ang respeto ko sa kanya.

“Then I’m going to need a set of clothes.”

Tumawa naman ito.

JARED’S POV

Maaga akong nagising kinabukasan. I decided to buy another cup of coffee for Rindel. I turned the shower on and waited as the cold water turned warm enough for me. I felt my muscles relax under the heat of the water.

After the long shower, I quickly dried of and shaved any hint of facial hair. I wanted to make an impression today. Especially to Mark Rindel.

I sprayed on some deodorant and got dressed. I chose a navy blue polo shirt. It slightly fitted my body showing a hint of my muscles. I threw on a pair of black pants, a belt and a pair of black shoes.

Nang makuntento sa hitsura ko ay nag-spray na ako ng perfume saka umalis. I quickly drove to Starbuck’s to get that coffee. Nang makarating ako ay agad akong umorder. One for Rindel and one for me. I looked around the shop. Kakaunti pa lang ang tao rito. My eyes landed on a table where someone familiar was seated. It was Rindel. He was just sitting down. A cup of coffee already in his hands and a slice of cake on the table.

“Jared.”, pagtawag ng barista sa pangalan ko which signalled that my order was done.

Kinuha ko ito saka pumunta kung saan nakaupo si Rindel.

“Isn’t this a little too early for a slice of cake?”, tanong ko rito. Agad naman itong napatingin sa direksyon ko. Confusion on his face.

“I’m sorry? Do I know you?”, takang tanong nito.

I chuckled.

“It’s me boss. Jared.”, sabi ko rito.

I saw his eyes go wide at the realization. Then, slowly, his expression turned into a smile. A genuine one at that.

*GASP* I know it's short, don't kill me.. It was hell week in the office with all the renewal of contracts and stuff kaya hindi ko talagang natutukan ito... I will try on the next one though. :)
